Discipline Faith Thinking

How to Stay Disciplined as a Christian

Staying disciplined as a Christian sounds simple in theoryโ€”but in practice, itโ€™s one of the hardest things to maintain. You start with good intentions, but consistency fades, motivation drops, and routines break.

Iโ€™ve experienced this myself, especially when trying to balance prayer, fasting, work, and daily responsibilities. What Iโ€™ve learned is this: discipline isnโ€™t built through intensityโ€”itโ€™s built through repetition.

Start Small (Daily Prayer Habit)

One of the biggest mistakes I made was trying to do too much too quickly. I would plan long, structured prayer sessions, but I couldnโ€™t sustain them.

What actually helped was starting small.

Instead of aiming for long periods, I focused on simple, repeatable practices:

  • The Rosary (1 decade of the Rosary = 1 x Our Father, 10x Hail Marys and 1 x Glory Be) gave me structure and helped me stay focused. I would start with 1-2 decades of the Rosary
  • The Jesus Prayer allowed me to pray throughout the day, even briefly
  • Sometimes, I would just sit in silence for one minute to reset my thoughts

These small steps were far more sustainable than trying to force long, intense sessions.

The types of prayers I use:

Remove Distractions

I realised quickly that discipline isnโ€™t just about what you addโ€”itโ€™s also about what you remove.

My biggest distractions werenโ€™t just external, like my phone, but internalโ€”overthinking, frustration, and mental fatigue.

To deal with this, I made simple changes:

  • Putting my phone away during prayer
  • Choosing a quiet space
  • Keeping my prayers simple instead of overcomplicating them

Discipline becomes much easier when you reduce the things that constantly pull your attention away.

Stay Consistent, Not Perfect

There were many days when I didnโ€™t feel spiritually strong. Sometimes I felt mentally drained, especially during fasting or after long days of work.

But I started to understand something important: discipline is not about how you feelโ€”itโ€™s about whether you show up.

On different days, I used different approaches:

  • Sometimes the Trisagion
  • Sometimes a short prayer
  • Sometimes just silence

What mattered wasnโ€™t the intensityโ€”it was the consistency.

Even when it felt like nothing was happening, showing up daily built a habit over time.

Why This Matters

Christian discipline isnโ€™t about becoming perfect overnight. Itโ€™s about slowly forming habits that shape your life.

Small, consistent actions:

  • Strengthen your focus
  • Build spiritual awareness
  • Help you stay grounded even when life feels difficult

Conclusion

If youโ€™re struggling with discipline, donโ€™t aim for perfectionโ€”aim for consistency.

Start small. Remove distractions. Keep showing up.

Because in the end, discipline doesnโ€™t grow through intensityโ€”it grows through repetition.

Quantum computing

Quantum computing is a new type of computing that uses the rules of quantum physics to process information in ways that traditional computers canโ€™t.

Classical vs. quantum computers

  • Classical computers (laptops, phones) use bits that are either 0 or 1.
  • Quantum computers use qubits, which can be 0, 1, or both at the same time (a property called superposition).

Key ideas (in simple terms)

Superposition: A qubit can represent multiple possibilities at once, allowing many calculations to be explored simultaneously. To understand superposition in a simple way, let’s imagine a person on a ladder [ref. 1]; a person further up the ladder would have a higher potential energy than if they were much closer to the ground. However, unlike the person on a ladder example, atoms can possess more than one energy state simultaneously so the atom would behave like a person who is both occupying the ladder closer to the ground and also further up the ladder. Hence, the atom that is in this mixed energy state is known as “quantum superposition”. [see ref. 1]

Fig 1 – shows superposition in the qubit particle (represented by the sphere) [source ref. 1]

Entanglement: Qubits can become linked so that changing one instantly affects another, even if theyโ€™re far apart like if one qubit was placed on the Moon and another qubit was placed on Earth [source ref. 1]

Fig 2 – shows quantum entanglement between two qubit particles (each qubit particle represented by a sphere) [see ref. 1]

Quantum interference: The computer amplifies correct answers and cancels out wrong ones through carefully designed operations. Interference arises because of the wave-like properties of quantum particles like electrons and photons (a photon being a packet of energy of electromagnetic radiation, [see ref. 2 and 3]). When a particle is in a superposition of multiple states, these states can interact with each other that can lead to constructive or destructive interference [see ref. 2].

Fig 3 – shows constructive wave interference on the left and destructive wave interference on the right [see ref. 4]

Why this matters

Because of these properties, quantum computers can solve certain problems much faster than classical computers, such as:

  • Breaking or analyzing some types of encryption
  • Simulating molecules and materials (useful in medicine and chemistry)
  • Optimizing complex systems (like logistics or traffic flow)

Important limitations

  • Quantum computers are not faster at everything.
  • They are very hard to build and control.
  • Current quantum computers are experimental and prone to errors.

Simple analogy

If a classical computer checks solutions one at a time, a quantum computer explores many paths at once, then uses physics to guide itself toward the best answer.

Bottom line

Quantum computing doesnโ€™t replace regular computers. Instead, itโ€™s a powerful new tool designed to tackle specific problems that are extremely difficult or impossible for todayโ€™s machines.

What is an AI chatbot?

An AI chat bot is a computer program that simulates human conversations. An AI chat bot uses AI to understand and respond to queries. An AI chat bot uses AI techniques such as natural language processing (NLP) to understand human language. NLP is the processing of natural language information by a computer via understanding, analysing and responding to human speech. NLP takes a text or voice from a human, uses AI to make sense of the text or voice, then generates and delivers responses to the text or voice input.

NLP splits simplifies text by making text into tokens i.e. breaking down sentences into individual parts e.g. the sentence โ€œWhat restaurants are nearby?โ€ is broken down into the following tokens: โ€˜whatโ€™ โ€˜restaurantsโ€™ โ€˜areโ€™ โ€˜nearbyโ€™. By converting text into tokens, it removes any less useful information.

AI chat bots use Large Language Models (LLM) to understand and recognize text. Think of LLMs as a type of AI program. LLMs take the sentences that have been made into tokens and then analyse how words connect and which words frequently appear together.

Types of AI chatbots:

The most common types of AI chatbots are: transactional AI chatbots, Conversational chatbots, Decision support AI chatbots, Workflow automation AI chatbots, Informational AI chatbots, Problem-solving AI chatbots, Feedback and survey AI chatbots, Adaptive learning AI chatbots and Hybrid AI chatbots.

Transactional AI chatbots operate on orders, deliveries and transactions.

Conversational AI chatbots are usually used in customer service roles, messaging human users in a conversational way.

Decision support AI chatbots help human users make decisions by presenting data and outcomes to the user.

Workflow automation AI chatbots simplify repetitive tasks in a workflow.

Informational AI chatbots provide information and answers FAQs.

Problem-solving AI chatbots diagnose and answer customer problems.

Feedback and survey AI chatbots gather data from customer surveys and feedback and develop insights based on the data.

Adaptive learning AI chatbots improve their performance based on the feedback they receive and the improvements they implement.

Hybrid AI chatbots can switch between transactional, informational and problem-solving roles for human users.

The Petrodollar Part 2

A silver oil barrel tipped over, spilling black oil onto a stack of US dollar bills.

https://www.businessinsider.com/israel-grants-golan-heights-oil-license-2013-2?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=topbar&utm_term=mobile&referrer=facebook&IR=T

From the link mentioned above, entitled “Israel Grants First Golan Heights Oil Drilling License To Dick Cheney-Linked Company”, it made me recall the valuable information I learned about the money system, the US dollar, gold and oil supplies from the book, ‘Bankruptcy of our nation’ by Jerry Robinson.

Oil, the black gold. The USA controls the global oil supplies, forcing other countries to purchase oil using only US Dollars. This means the Federal Reserve can print as much US dollars to the US Government as much as the Government wants to fund their wars and government programs like welfare without the risk of hyperinflation.

A greater supply of US dollars in global and domestic circulation benefits investors who own assets because the price of assets (houses, real estate etc.) increases greatly when the total amount of money in circulation is many times greater e.g. when the total amount of money in circulation is $2,000,000, it is not possible to charge potential buyers $1,000,000 for a mansion but when the total amount of money in circulation is in the billions and trillions of $$$s, there is a far greater amount of money in circulation so the prices of assets like the mansion can be sold atย $1,000,000 because companies and rich people don’t want people to buy up all the assets like mansions and commodities like chocolate bars.

The money system is wicked and at the same time ingenious because Central Banks like the US Federal Reserve will print out paper money for the US Government to use for its various wars and programs like welfare but the Central Banks will also charge extra when the US Government attempts to pay back the original money it borrowed from the US Federal Reserve; I typed “attempts” because no matter how many times the US Government tries to pay back the original money by taxation, it is an impossibility because only the interest charged by the Federal Reserve can be paid by the US Government which means the US Government is heavily in debt.

The thing is, what makes the money system so ingenious is that during the economic boom years, money is circulated by Central Banks at low interest so there are more jobs and more companies in existence but then when economic recessions occur, the Central Banks demand all loaned money be paid in full with higher interests which means a LOT of companies go bankrupt and a lot of people lose their jobs and most likely become homeless like what is happening now in certain parts of the USA. It’s all planned. Because the US Government can only possibly pay off the increasing interest but not the actual original amount of money it borrowed from the Federal Reserve, the total amount of money owed to the Central Banks will always be greater than the total amount of money available to be used to pay off the borrowed money (this available money being the result of the blood, sweat and tears of ordinary hardworking people) so the poor and powerless are ensnared either with a lifetime of work to pay off the Government debt or they lose their homes and live on the street.

This is what I have read so far from ‘Bankruptcy of our nation’ by Jerry Robinson; I would highly recommend you buy his book to become financially literate and work towards financial freedom. I enclose the link for this amazing book below:

Thoughts on The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Book cover of 'The Power of Now' by Eckhart Tolle, featuring radiating lines and the title in a gradient font.

Too much thinking on the Past and I become sad and regretful. Too much thinking on the Future that may come and I become anxious and unfulfilled over not reaching that potential. In both cases, I become identified with my Mind/ my Ego which is linked to and relates to Time. To live in the Now, to live in the Present, is to silence the Mind/ the Ego, is to Be in the moment which is happiness. – from the book, The Power of Now

PS – too much thinking in the Now would mean I become reactive, not proactive which means I don’t work towards my Goals (my overarching goals coming from my identity) and Life becomes meaningless. So I must think mostly in the Now while taking lessons from the Past and using the Future-thinking briefly to guide my progress in the Now to achieve my Goals.

I include in this blog post the Amazon link to further browse and purchase the book, ‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle if you liked reading my summary. I highly recommend it.

Know thyself

A close-up of a marble bust of Socrates with the phrase 'Know Thyself' in large text on the right side.

30 years of my life it has taken me to realise the hidden wisdom within that cryptic saying “know Thyself” by Socrates thousands of years ago. Knowing who you are means you know what your personality is and if it is suitable for the job you will be doing for the rest of your life; if you are an introvert, you will not enjoy doing work where you must and need to entertain and socialise with your clients to generate business compared to someone whose hobby usually involves partying a lot. Knowing who you are determines what your vision is for the future and it is that future that determines who will want to stay in your life whether a spouse, friend, business partner etc. People diverge from each other in life because of circumstances and because their vision of what they want in life, determined by who they are, conflict.

I learned this from Myles Munroe and a Facebook friend.

Petrodollar

A grey oil barrel tipped over, spilling black oil onto a stack of hundred-dollar bills.

I wonder when the Petrodollar will lose value so that we can return to gold and silver coins. This is the stuff they don’t teach you in schools. The US dollar is exchangeable with Saudi Arabian oil because there is a finite amount of gold in the world so President Nixon made the decision that US dollars were no longer to be exchanged for gold (thus becoming a fiat currency) but instead exchanged for Saudi Arabian oil during the 1970s.

But like all things, oil will eventually run out on Earth or no longer be as valuable considering that renewable sources of energy are being developed to replace dependency on oil for transport (Elon Musk’s mission to make electric cars efficient and fast using his Tesla company). This would suggest that once oil has run out or is no longer in demand, fiat currencies like the US dollar will lose its value.

Funny that all these man-made things that our Society needs to function at its current state, the lifeblood that is money, are just pieces of paper with ink on it.
